One to One

We offer One-to-One sessions with a Bereavement Support Volunteer (BSV)

There is often a waiting time before you see the volunteer (this can be up to 8 weeks in busy periods) who will contact you by phone to arrange a convenient time to meet.

The Bereavement Support Volunteer (BSV) is professionally trained to the highest Cruse national standards. Anything you share with them is entirely confidential. Volunteers must attend meetings where their work is supervised, to make sure you are getting the best care.

The volunteer is there to listen and help you work through your grief; there is no limit on how many sessions you can have. Cruse uses counselling to help you find your personal way through grief.

Meetings with your BSV can be at the Cruse office in central Oxford or in your own home. There is no charge for these sessions although donations are very welcome.

Telephone

This service is the same as one to one, except that contact is by telephone.  It is especially useful for clients who are unable to come to our offices.  Sessions are held regularly at a time to suit the client

Friendship Groups

These are social groups, designed for those people who have moved on a stage in their grieving and would like to be in the company of others who understand their situation. These groups also support the work of Cruse by fundraising. Each group is run by trained Cruse volunteers.

If you are interested in attending any of these groups please contact us on 01865 245398.

Oxford Friendship Group
This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 10.30 till 12.30. We meet in St. Michael's Church, Cornmarket Street. We have occasional speakers from various organisations such as Water Aid, Guide Dogs, and other charities. Refreshments are provided.  They also meet on the fourth Thursday of each month for a pub lunch at the Four Candles in George Street.

Wallingford Friendship Group

This group meets on the first Thursday of each month from 12:00 till 14:00 at St. Mary-Le-More Church in Wallingford. The group organises external activities and visits for its members. They recently visited Denman College, the home of the famous W.I. cookery, craft and lifestyle courses.
